Field Season Happenings 2023— Goose Fire

Catch up with us on what our Field Team has been up to!

Two years ago, the Goose Fire spread by Hidden Lake and the outskirts of Elk Lake. The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest's Madison Ranger District, CVA, and The Nature Conservancy implemented Early Detection, Rapid Response (EDRR) weed management to prevent weed species from spreading into bareground soils within the burn, as well as on equipment lines and routes to the fire. Thankfully, the crew did not discover too many patches of invasive weeds! Canada thistle was the primary offender, with some spotted knapweed and hoary alyssum identified. The area was traversed using UTVs, ATV, and by truck, in the end of August and end of September. Way to go Team!
